The new elementary school in Spillern is an ensemble of 2 structures that are set apart by the airy roof of the auditorium pavilion. The deliberate division into 2 houses enables, on the one hand, an adequate mix of structure sizes for the location and, on the other hand, clarity for each user group. A pavilion acts as a joint between the school building and the leisure center, the auditorium connects the outside areas of the school and forms a public north-south axis in its center. The forecourt in the south as the kiss + ride zone has a shared canopy for the entrances to primary school, to the assembly hall and to the all-day area. The auditorium and gymnasium can be used side by side undisturbed. The school building forms the high point of the facility on the walking route to the parish and parish hall, welcomes approaching people and develops a pleasant density. The urban development figure corresponds with the surroundings. Escape from the neighboring buildings in the north, west and south is taken up, lines of sight are enforced, the scale is child friendly. The formulation of a school building and a leisure center creates clear addresses, while the auditorium and the terrace above are for shared use and ensure the necessary distance between the user groups. They give the ensemble an identity-creating, communicating center. In the school building, central cloakroom and dining room are oriented towards the auditorium and the covered outdoor area; both can also be used as a public event zone and serve as a simple extension to the leisure rooms. The library, leisure rooms and the auditorium appear transparent on the ground floor, while a reading garden complements the outdoor space in the schoolyard (open-air theater, seats, motor skills park) and the school garden (raised beds, sports field) on the forecourt side as well. The upper floors of the schoolhouse contain 2 clusters with 4 main classes each and a market square. There is a special classroom (crafts, music) on each level which is directly accessible from the staircase can be used from the market square. The massive cores of the sanitary block and stairwell are identical on all levels and strengthen the clarity and intuitive orientation in the house.
