The RaiQa Quarters – 1st place

Innsbruck Mitte

In terms of urban space, the shortening of the existing main building enhances the station passages to Innsbruck city center, keeps distance from the listed surroundings and gives the ensemble a new center that creates an identity with a forecourt on Adamgasse. The exciting hybrid use and the desire for an open building has led us to a gate-like positioning of the buildings with two typologically related structures with life pulsating between. The alley forms the joint to all uses, the division into 2 houses (big and little sister) creates an adequate event house as a “house of beautiful things” that will be publicly perceived. The new building confidently queues up with the adjoining buildings at the train station; a slight tilt to the main building ensures dynamics and communication. A three-sided catering area with outdoor seating invite you to linger in the spacious inner courtyard with a view of the mountains. A 14 meter high atrium with daylight and work galleries for the RLB is sociable and takes on the role of distributor in the main building as a common lobby for the bank and hotel. The existing tower structure will be maintained for reasons of sustainability and converted into hotel room floors with an unobstructed mountain view. On the roof level, the restaurant, sky bar and seminar rooms as well as a roof garden with viewing platform complete the offer and bring the public right up to the top! Fine, opaque, anodized white aluminum rods wrap all components in an emphatic dress that plays with sunlight and does not heat up in summer. The resulting aura exudes openness and solidity at the same time and is a symbol for a friendly bank that welcomes guests and residents of the quarter with a wide range of offers.
