The site for the new fire brigade clubhouse is challenging: in a small-structured single-family house area, a new house is being built on the old club premises for many clubs with an event area, a library with chronicles and a training center above the area where the volunteer fire department operates. In terms of urban planning, it is important for us to construct a volume that corresponds to the small scale of the surrounding area. The result is a building ensemble with identity – the topography enables each user group to create a unique address, so that they can live together undisturbed. The setting of the building is so twisted that no confrontational counterpart is created. The fire brigade operations center is accessible in the north on the Klammbach side, allowing for a spacious training area and direct parking for everyone. A deep canopy protects the fire department gates from the weather, and the news room and training area, stacked one on top of the other, overlook the entire operational area. Entrance stairs, library, foyer, halls, lounge area can also be combined to form a large, flowing spatial continuum during events. Visitors experience a spatially excitingly linked vertical relationship with changing incidence of light: a bridge spanning the entrance foyer gives access to the chronicle, Mötz’s documentary treasure! Overall, the facades have natural colors that develop from the landscape on the stream and river banks. The house adapts naturally to the village and its immediate natural environment, as if it had always been there!
