Smaller is almost impossible! In 2010 Christine + Christian found a building site for their single-family home with an existing residential tower on Froschberg in Linz. Except for the top floor, the levels were all let, a general renovation is therefore not (yet) an issue. Half of the top level is a roof terrace, the living room with an elevated level above the staircase is almost too small to live in. Since we have already carried out several projects in Upper Austria together, Christian commissioned me to re-plan a mini-penthouse. The question came across almost like an apology at the time, but the task had a lot of potential and its enchanting was a lot of fun. The sleeping level was built in above the stairs, in the living room the dining table is either slid to the kitchen extension or for guests in the direction of the living area. In order to make the interior appear as large as possible, the material was minimized and kept light, the bathroom unit transparent. In order to generate as much storage space as possible, book shelves and filing boards also function as a closure to the ceiling or form a fall protection at the different levels.
