In terms of location, the new positioning of the elementary school creates a clear building as a counterpoint to the kindergarten building opposite. The building maintains a distance from the kindergarten, but at the same time generates high-quality open space thanks to its slim shape and position parallel to the street. A striking projection of the upper floors defines a high-quality outdoor space on the south side facing the garden and creates an identity-creating new address in a central location facing Brunnenplatz. Open spatial structures create relationships from outside and inside; the school becomes part of the place and its orientation follows the existing typology that encompasses the northern street space. A clear highway between the auditorium and the central cloakroom revitalizes the center. Well lit via central skylight strips, it forms the link to all uses. The open entrance floor with central cloakroom, auditorium, library, music room, dining room and afternoon care communicates with the public space, but also interacts equally with the adjacent open space. An “access landscape” folds centrally from the entrance level to the upper floors via a cascade staircase and serves for orientation and communication. Clusters and administration on the upper floors and sports facilities on the lower floors create a simple logic, stacking minimizes the footprint!
