The Achensee, as the largest lake in Tyrol, blends in with the mountain landscape of the high plateau. The village of Pertisau is located on the alluvial fan of two side valleys. The new boathouse with a shipping pier is planned on the most exciting part of the shore as a public meeting point for all visitors to the lake. Coming from the west, the newly designed lake promenade leads behind some visual barriers to the public square at the northern end of the lake promenade. Coming from the lake by ship, the landscape with green remaining areas opens to the west. In the north, the Seekarspitze rises steeply directly from the lake shore and only a narrow hiking trail leads hikers east to the Gaisalm. A solid building stretches across the promontory, which, thanks to its accessible roof, looks like a continuation of the waterfront promenade. A slight turning of the building fronts integrates the two long facades perfectly into the environment. The new ship terminal presents itself as an open, spacious building structure with reference to the edge of the lake and the mountain. The shape of a direction-neutral building does justice to the flow of visitors coming from three sides. On the lake side, a fold frames the cubature and spans covered outdoor spaces of different depths. The Fürstenhaus and the terminal frame the square and give it its central importance as a meeting point for 200.000 shipping visitors per year. Like a protective hand, the façade along the street is bent and thus directs visitors coming from the lake promenade or from the bottom of the valley to the central joint: Here you can go to the foyer, to the boat rental or via an express staircase to the ‘upper deck’ with gastronomy + view, where the children can conquer the new topography at the boathouse. In the interplay of building and nature, an open recreational, sports and adventure landscape develops, which invites you to interact on the lake shore all year round.
