The concept emphasizes the hidden qualities of the existing school building and develops them further: in terms of urban planning, the main building with 3 upper floors is being extended to the west, and the main entrance on Peuerbachstrasse is strengthened by a spacious, covered front zone. A covered outside staircase stages the vertical line on the covered forecourt in the west, enlivens the school building and creates a communicative, rain-proof open space for tomorrow’s day care. The room sequence: assembly hall-multi-purpose room-dining room-learning zone forms a communicative center together with the music and art rooms on the mezzanine and basement floor. They can be used synergetically with the library and day care gallery above. The auditorium and dining / learning zones, together with the multi-purpose hall, will become the heart of the school and will now be given adequate open spaces and daylight lounge areas in a central location. In order to achieve maximum light and direct lines of sight, the multi-purpose hall and auditorium are designed on two floors and only separated by mobile partition wall elements when required. The TABE gallery above acts as a spectator gallery in the event of an event, and 3 new upper floors will be built above it. The conversion is carried out compactly so that the construction site and school can function side by side undisturbed and the statical measures can be optimized. The new scientific atrium on the 1st floor brings plenty of daylight into the two class wings above. The existing corridors are also upgraded as a result and window seats are created in the cool, green inner courtyard.
